CrowDoubt: My First AI Classroom
Building a smarter way to learn online, even before it became the norm.
The Idea
Back in 2020, online classrooms felt kinda clunky. I had this mentor who taught me a lot about how students think, and I felt tech could help teachers get a better vibe on how everyone was actually doing.
So, I built CrowDoubt – an online classroom thingy that tried to understand if you were *actually* confident about your answers. It watched how you took tests: how long you looked at questions, if you changed answers a lot, even your mouse moves! The AI stuff? That was all with TensorFlow.
What It Did
- Kept all the study stuff organized for teachers and students.
- Tried to guess how confident students were about topics based on what they looked at.
- Had smart tests that watched how you answered.
- Gave teachers cool reports on how the whole class and individual students were doing.
- Could even make custom tests for each student.
The Tech
The backend was mostly PHP with Laravel – pretty standard stuff back then. But for the brainy AI parts, I used Python microservices with TensorFlow. It was like having separate little programs just for the smart stuff.
Stuff I Learned
Turns out, selling to students directly in India is tough because the parents usually pay. So, that didn't quite work out. Tried partnering with coaching centers, but that was tricky too.
Eventually, I realized I couldn't keep pushing it on my own, so I sold it to a company. I even stayed on for a bit to help them add it to their other products. It was a wild ride and my first real taste of building something with AI.
